Quite a few years ago, I was managing the Speedy Muffler in Kelowna when a young couple came in to have the car checked out.
She was the new owner and stood about 4 ft. 9 in. and looked about 100 lbs. if she was lucky. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, was about 6 ft. 5 in. tall with a slim build. Talk about your 'Mutt and Jeff'.
The vehicle was in sad shape; leaking shocks, broken springs and rusted out exhaust. After showing them the damage I went to the counter to generate an estimate and they stood across from me, her to my left, while I handed her the estimate.
She glared at the estimate for a very long moment obviously shocked at the price it would take to make this car road worthy again.
She broke the silence by saying to her boyfriend "I thought you said this was a good car to buy?".
With that, she reached down with her closed right fist and came up quickly and caught him squarely on the chin.
His feet came off the floor about 4 inches and he dropped like a 'ton of bricks' and was out for the count.
She got in her car and drove away.
He finally woke up about ten minutes later, just in time for the paramedics to arrive and take him away.
